CHRISTY HERSEY LM, CPM

At Amabella Women's Health, we believe it starts by listening to our patients.

Christy comes to Amabella Birth Center as a 30 year resident of Florida.  For five years she lived in Texas, where all her children were born naturally with midwives. Her first born was in a military hospital, second baby at a birth center, and third sweet 11lb 3oz baby at home “accidentally unassisted”’ 

Christy’s intimate experience with her midwives and doulas, led her to pursue midwifery as a profession.  In September of 2015, Christy graduated from Florida School of Traditional Midwifery.  Christy has worked in home birth and birth center practices, for an OB/GYN in public health, a birth center at a teaching hospital, and spearheaded a private practice which is still operating today. 

Christy has also taught dozens of licensed midwives, nurses, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives.  During school Christy trained under multiple licensed midwives, certified nurse midwives, and obstetricians all over Florida. Christy’s training and professional experience affords her a unique mix of skill and background to serve women in pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond.

Christy has attended over 450 births in her career and counting.  Christy’s practice centers around all-inclusive, evidence-based, shared decision making, and family involvement for the birthing person.  Christy considers herself a lifelong learner and servant of women/birthing-people and their families.  She is delighted, for the opportunity, to grow, serve, and lead at Amabella birth center.

When Christy is not on the go, as a midwife, she is a mother of three amazing teenagers, a painter, and a stellar cook. Her best dish is guacamole and salsa, thanks to Texas.
